wpd is globally active as a developer and promoter of renewable energy projects and also operates renewable energy power plants as an independent renewable power producer (IRPP).
wpd, which was founded by Dr. Klaus Meier and Dr. Gernot Blanke in 1996, now employs around 200 staff and is actively represented in ten countries. wpd is responsible for the development, construction and financing of more than 130 wind farms with a total investment of more than Euro 1.7 billion and a capacity of approximately 1,200 MW – and the Asset management of more than 1,400 MW wind power capacity. In addition, wpd is european’s leading developer of offshore wind farms (Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, Spain etc.)
wpd began by focussing on the design, financing and marketing of wind energy projects. Today it covers the entire range of project development services, from concluding licence agreements to putting on stream renewable energy projects. An ever-increasing share is taken up by independent projects, with wpd becoming globally active as an IRPP.
