Independent of the type of renewable energy generation, numerous German companies on the market offer additional products and services, rounding out the value-added chain. Project management companies carry out technical and financial feasibility studies of plans as well as assist in the acquisition of project partners and the preparation of documentation and permits. They also coordinate and manage the design and construction of plants.

Other providers are specialised in analysis and optimisation processes. They identify potential areas where efficiency in the manufacture, construction and operation of plants as well as the feed-in of electricity can be improved. In addition, several producers offer processed components for use in multiple technologies in the field of renewable energies. For example, plate heat exchangers can be used in solar technology, in shallow geothermal energy systems, as well as in combined heat and power plants (CHP).

With regard to environmental impact and security, German companies offer comprehensive solutions. Excellent examples include the certification of biofuels or the validation of climate protection projects (“Joint Implementation”, JI, and “Clean Development Mechanism”, CDM).

Diverse specialist providers certify power generation from renewable energies, inspect sites and the structural design of plants and monitor power plant operations. German investors finance projects, facilitate shareholdings or offer public placements via investment funds. In the “Carbon Investments” sector, they undertake the approval process for CDM and JI projects up to the point of disposal of the CDM emissions certificates, the so-called “Certified Emission Reductions” (CER), on the stock exchange.

Educational institutions offer instruction and further education in the areas of renewable energy technologies, feasibility and financing of projects, including the planning and implementation of off-grid systems. A variety of seminars are available to a wide range of target groups: from technicians and engineers to investors, lawyers, developers and decision makers.
