The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE is engaged in establishing a sustainable, economic, secure and socially responsible energy supply system. The Institute creates the technical framework for the efficient and environmentally friendly supply of energy, not only in industrial countries but also in emerging and developing nations.

Fraunhofer ISE develops materials, components, systems and processes in a total of seven business sectors. In addition to its research into basic scientific principles, the Institute deals with the development of production techniques and prototypes as well as the establishment of demonstration systems and the operation of test centres. The Institute plans, advises, evaluates and provides know-how and technical facilities, equipment and services. (DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 certified since March 2001)
