SMA Solar Technology AG is the world's most successful manufacturer of solar inverters, enjoying the highest volume of sales within the industry worldwide. The company group is represented by its own subsidiaries in nine countries across four continents. SMA employs some 2500 staff and received returns totalling 330 million Euro in 2007.
Any photovoltaic system is only as good as its solar inverter. It converts the direct current (DC) produced by the solar modules to alternating current, which can be inputted directly into the grid system. Intelligent system technology is playing an ever more significant role, thanks to the use of microprocessor controlled solar inverters which ensure network integration of solar plants and also monitor plant functions.
