Das Haus- Innovation in Renewables and Energy Efficiency

"Das Haus" is a prototype of an energy-efficient house based on the "Solar Decathlon" contest-winning design from the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany. The house demonstrates new, innovative German construction technologies for reducing home energy use by making the most of solar energy.

In addition to demonstrating solar and energy-efficient technology, "Das Haus" shows that it is possible to create efficient homes, powered by renewable energy, that are also comfortable, attractive places to live.

Uniting sophisticated architecture and innovative technology, "Das Haus" shows that sustainability and design quality are viable concepts with major market potential in North America.

Under the aegis of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Export Initiatives of the Federal Republic of Germany, it is now possible to see and experience "Das Haus" on its journey throughout Northern America. The roadshow is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) together with the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development.
